Join Us in Creating Fashion That Transforms Lives
“When Fashion Meets Purpose, Communities Thrive.” – Ruth Anyango (EFWA Co-Founder)
“Good ideas should travel. If it works, allow others to replicate it. If it impacts, scale it. EFWA is here to co-create and empower others to take this movement everywhere.” – Belinda Atieno (Co-Founder EFWA)
At Eco Fashion Week Africa, community is at the heart of our work. From sewing workshops with youth and women to school visits and coastal cleanups, we believe in fashion as a tool for education, empowerment, and environmental action.

Who we work With
Women & Girls
Building a strong sense of community in Greenville school
Community – Building Approaches
EFWA provides skill-building platforms for women and girls to learn, earn, and lead. From beginner sewing classes to entrepreneurship mentorship, we empower women to tap into sustainable fashion as a source of income, identity, and community leadership.
- Women-only stitching and business skills training
- Local artisans gaining visibility and economic independence
School Children
We believe in starting young. EFWA visits schools to introduce sustainable fashion, zero waste principles, and environmental justice in ways that are interactive, visual, and fun.
We bring discarded materials and let the kids create while teaching them the impact of what they wear, we create fashion shows and empower kids to participate in fun awareness activities.
- Classroom workshops + recycled fashion games and shows
- Cultivating the next generation of conscious consumers with the help of young environmentalists
Creatives, NGOs & Community-Based Organizations
We collaborate with those already doing the work — from grassroots organizers to international NGOs and individual artists. Together, we co-create replicable events, community clean-ups, fashion shows, and training programs rooted in mutual values.
- Partner-led sustainable fashion workshops, panel discussions, local community visits, and sponsorships.
- Scalable, replicable models of community engagement through fashion
Youth
We engage young people as creators, learners, and leaders of the future. Through hands-on workshops, fashion innovation labs, and our Upcycled Challenge, we introduce youth to the power of circular fashion.
Whether it’s sewing, styling, environmental activism, or storytelling, we provide spaces for youth to build skills, confidence, and global relevance.
- Upcycling fashion bootcamps
- Youth-led runway looks, climate action through fashion
Mentors
We value the insight of those who’ve walked the path before us like educators, creatives, artisans, and community leaders who guide with experience. EFWA invites mentors to share skills, offer guidance, and co-create with emerging talents in ways that strengthen community knowledge.
