Eco Fashion Week Africa Season 4 brings together designers, organisations, businesses, educators and communities to explore practical responses to fashion’s overproduction and textile waste problem, while also using fashion and culture as spaces for wider conversations around community, responsibility, policy and participation.
Across the week, these ideas move into action through environmental activities, business and industry conversations, youth engagement, a voting dialogue and the No New Clothes Runway, asking not only what fashion can do with what already exists, but how we participate in the communities and systems we already belong to.
For Season 4, CMD Kenya twill be participating across three programme moments, each reaching a different audience while building one connected conversation around young people, creativity and civic participation, from fashion leaders and creative entrepreneurs at Fashion Futures, to students and emerging creatives at EFWA Youth, Fashion & Civic Participation Day, and finally the wider community through the EFWA Community Beach Cleanup & Voting Dialogue.

DAY 1 - Sunday 7 (9am to 12pm)
As part of Eco Fashion Week Africa Season 4, Eco Fashion Week Africa and Sustainable Ocean Alliance Kenya will bring together partners, volunteers, youngpeople and members of the community for a hands on mangrove planting day in Mombasa.
This is a day for action. Together, we will plant mangroves and contribute directly to the restoration of an ecosystem that plays an important role in protecting Kenya’s coastline.
Mangroves are among the most valuable coastal ecosystems. They help protect shorelines from erosion and flooding, provide important nursery habitats for fish and other marine species, improve water quality and store significant amounts of carbon.
Kenya has also demonstrated the value of community led mangrove restoration through projects along its coastline, showing that protecting these ecosystems can support both environmental recovery and coastal communities.
Working with Sustainable Ocean Alliance Kenya, the planting will be guided by local environmental knowledge to ensure that the activity contributes meaningfully to restoration efforts.

Day 2 - Tuesday 3 November from 3pm
Eco Fashion Week Africa Season 4 Press Day brings together selected media with EFWA representatives, participating designers, speakers, partners and collaborators ahead of the main programme.
With refreshments provided, The day will provide opportunities for interviews, photography, filming and conversations around the people, ideas and partnerships that’s making Eco Fashion Week Africa Season 4 possible.
Day 3- Wednesday 4 November from 3pm
FASHION FUTURES: CREATIVE ECONOMY, POLICY & PARTICIPATION
Fashion Futures brings together voices from across Africa and beyond to explore what it will take to build a stronger, more connected and more resilient creative economy.
The conversation will bring perspectives from Vogue contributor, a guest joining from India and the UAE, a zero waste designer from Brazil, an upcycled footwear designer from Malawi, fashion experts from across Africa and a representative from CMD Kenya.
Together, the programme will explore the relationship between creativity, business, policy and participation, looking at how designers and creative entrepreneurs can access stronger markets, partnerships, investment and industry support, while also understanding the wider policies and decisions that shape the environments in which they work.
The CMD Kenya representative will be bringing a civic participation perspective into the conversation and highlighting why creatives, young entrepreneurs and cultural leaders should also have a voice in discussions around policy, leadership and the future of the communities and industries they are helping to build
Day 4 - Thursday 5th November from 10am EFWA YOUTH & FASHION STUDENTS DAY (Industry Workshop powered by QKompany)
What does it take to move from fashion school into the real fashion industry, and how do young creatives understand the wider systems that shape their careers?
As part of Eco Fashion Week Africa Season 4, we are opening the doors at Delight Fashion School for a morning of learning, conversation and practical industry insight led by QKompany LLC, alongside a youth civic dialogue with CMD Kenya.
The workshop is open to everyone, with a special focus on fashion students, emerging designers, young creatives and anyone interested in understanding both the professional side of fashion and the wider environment in which creative careers and businesses grow.
QKompany’s relationship with EFWA and Delight Fashion School has already moved beyond conversation into tangible opportunity. Earlier this year, 16 Delight Fashion School students submitted portfolios for the EFWA Global Designer Residency powered by QKompany. Five progressed to interviews and two designers, Princess Mumbi Nyaruiru and Susan Kaimuri Muhoro, were selected for a structured international fashion industry internship combining mentorship, practical projects and professional exposure. Their work is expected to return to the EFWA platform for presentation during Season 4 in Malindi.
Thursday’s workshop brings some of that industry knowledge to a wider group of young creatives, with practical conversations around design thinking, understanding the consumer, interpreting a professional design brief, global fashion markets, research, portfolio development, professional communication and preparing for opportunities beyond the classroom.
CMD Kenya will add a civic participation perspective, encouraging young creatives to think beyond the industry itself and consider how policy, leadership, public participation and informed voting can shape the environment in which creative businesses and careers develop.
Day 5 - Friday 6th November from 9am EFWA COMMUNITY BEACH CLEANUP | MALINDI
As Kenya moves towards the 2027 General Election, Eco Fashion Week Africa will bring together young people, creatives, local community members, civic actors and invited guests for a morning combining community action with civic dialogue
Under Kenya’s current constitutional framework, the next General Election falls on 10 August 2027, making November 2026 a relevant moment to begin conversations around informed participation, issue based voting and the role young people can play beyond election day.
The morning begins practically, with participants working together to clean a section of the Malindi coastline
The cleanup then transitions into an informal conversation led in collaboration with an interested partner.
If we care about our communities, our environment, our jobs, our creative industries and our future, then we should also care about the decisions and leadership that shape them
This is not designed as a political rally and EFWA would not endorse any party or candidate
Instead, the dialogue creates a neutral space where young people can ask questions, understand the value of their vote and think critically about the issues they want political leaders to address.
